The Nalowale Review (Tell of Days in Goodness Spent)

So, sorry. This kind of got out of hand… didn’t realize I had so much to say about this episode. Not to mention, so many pictures to share!

This is not the face of a guy thinking, “Maybe I’ll kick a Filipino militant’s ass later today” is it?
It’s definitely not the hair of a guy capable of violence.

In “Nalowale” (Forgotten/Missing) H50 continues to betray its “cop procedural” label, introducing us to new characters, further exploring others, and giving opportunity for the Core Four to shine on a number of levels.

Post-credits, we start out with a very informative scene, wherein we learn that Steve McGarrett sets his alarm clock for ridiculously early in the morning on Saturdays, and although he skipped dinner the night before, somehow found time to brush his teeth before going to bed as neither he nor Cath appear to be suffering any sort of gross morning breath. Would you like a screen cap of this scene? I’m sure you have one saved somewhere. Ha!

The previous scene? Really?

Off to the Medical Examiner’s office we go where the Governor’s Two Best People find themselves in very different moods. “Rambo Retrospective” McG and “Lost weekend with Gracie” Danno square off – but soon come together in bemused annoyance to meet: Max! Dr. Bergman, the tactile thinker, the quirky savant who hates phones & doesn’t like people touching his instruments.

Uh…. Hello there…!

Max eventually gets around to meeting McG & Danny, too. His lab is lit in this very lovely light blue. Makes dead bodies a creepy green color and live ones oh so pretty.

I wonder where Dr. Bergman gets his ties?

In his quirky, staccato way of speaking, Max seems perfectly at ease – it’s strongly implied he has some sort of spectrum disorder – and as such doesn’t “see” the people right in front of him – but he’s back on his game once he’s made introductions. He’s also an excellent piano player.

This is my Serious Listening Face.
Maybe later I’ll kick the ass of a Filipino Militant.

And while the lab, with its subtle shadows is a great place to grab any number of fun screen caps & get to know more about Max Bergman, let’s go to another lovely setting, the vacation home of the victims where everything is beautiful, especially the police officers.

Ahhh-Lowww-Haaa!

Chin Ho once again demonstrates his top-notch veteran police instincts, chatting up the “security expert” that while not the Filipino Militant Whose Ass Will Later Be Kicked is still on the wrong end of this week’s “Book ’em Danno.” Go Chin Ho! Please remember how impressed I am with Chin Ho’s brains later on in this review.

Meanwhile, in the house, Danno & McG talk to… some people. I’m not really sure. The Governor may have been there. There’s some questioning, some theorizing, I’m sure the writers worked really hard on this dialogue for Danny & McG. They sure are handsome great police officers.

I mean, just look at them gather the clues that help them solve this case. Honestly, where are they, a soft light factory? Why have the lighting, set & techincal directors of Show not won a million awards? I mean really!

But back to the case. Blah blah blah, figure it out, Five-0s!

All that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her his aspect and her his eyes.
~Lord Byron

Moving on, we get… really, an incredible scene. Because What Other Show has scenes quite like this? The answer is: No Other Show. I made a gif out of these pics because it amused me to do so… for my Favorite Scene of the Episode! This FSotE is brought to you by: My Unused Liberal Arts Eduction! Watch & be amazed as I apply it to a Show about Hot Cops In Paradise!

Benedick: I pray thee now tell me, for which of my bad parts didst thou first fall in love with me?
Beatrice: For them all together.
~Much Ado About Nothing, William Shakespeare

#1 Exposition: Danno notes a couple young ladies are checking out McG. McG is holding a beer bottle as daintily as a tea cup in his gigantic paw and casing the joint for the baddies.

#2 Rising Action: Danno has now informed McG of the attention of the ladies. McG has taken a swig of beer & makes bitter beer face at the ladies. Bitter Beer Face from a Longboard, really Steve?

#3 Climax & Falling Action: Danno literally takes McG’s pulse while McG keeps as straight (ha!) a face as possible.

#4 Dénouement: McG can no longer hold back his Stupid Smile & effects a strategic withdrawal while I despair for the success of any undercover mission this ridiculous human person must have participated in during his SEAL tenure; Danno catches the vital clue.

I don’t want to like this scene the most, but I doooooo. I really do. I want my favorite scene to be where Danno guides McPacMan through the maze of the warehouse and then watches in horror as McG whacks the bad guy with the crowbar. Because it’s funny and action-oriented and awesome whereas this scene is… impossible to screencap properly (the lights are blinking constantly) and the music is loud and Danny is doing ALL the yelling talking and really — why isn’t McG saying anything except to deflect, deflect, deflect before finally admitting he “got into some Barry White” last night. I’ll bet Danny is sorry he asked – I sure am! This scene annoys the crap out of me! But I love it in spite of myself. There is just something about it. Je ne sais quoi. I love it against my will. But it’s love all the same.

My biggest beef with this episode is the small amount of screen time for Chin Ho & Kono. Compared to previous episodes, their minutes are shorter — to accommodate crucial, interesting and/or fun scenes with not only Max but the Governor, Mary & Cath. It’s too bad, but a fair trade. So let’s see what these fine women bring to the table this ep.

La dee dah, just wandering around
with my perfect hair & perfect thighs…
Just got laid, la dee dah…
Glad to know McG can keep houseplants alive…

So can we discuss that shirt she’s wearing? Ever seen McG wear that thing or anything like it? Where did it come from? If she pulled it out of the closet, fair chance it belonged to Poppa McG in which case….. ….. …..

But Cath isn’t just here for the fanservice, she does get to help out on the case, and this is the one time she accesses satellite intel for McG without vocally worrying about causing a National Security Incident and/or her Immediate Dismissal from the Armed Forces. So that’s something!

She bumps into Mary in the hallway & has possibly the most awkward conversation of all time, and Mary’s a brat, and I wish we got to see her parade of local boyfriends hanging around the house, calling McG “dude” and generally being obnoxious. In my mind, it totally happened.

Moving the action on the homefront downstairs, McG forgets (episode title shout out!) to adequately hide the Champ Box & Mary gets into it, setting up some major foreshadowing of future events. This is also our first true look into the Champ Box’s more esoteric contents, including the stack of postcards from Japan, the “car bomb” pictures & a cigarette butt.

Mary Ann McGarrett, junior detective!

And then we have the Governor. The Governor! Back when we thought she was good! Back when she thought she was good! Oh Jean Smart how I miss you! Exclamation point! Exclamation point! Exclamation point!

This is the first time we’ve seen the Governor since the Pilot, where McG basically called her a scheming, pandering politician to her face and she didn’t flinch, didn’t accept his “pass” of her proposal to set up the Task Force – and kept the offer on the table. Here we see less of the Iron Lady and more of her tender side. Look at those eyes! Filled with tears! We never learn that much about Patricia Jameson, the woman, what were here interests & hobbies, was she ever married, was she born in Hawaii, did she have children? But what we do know is that promises are important to her (per the Pilot), and her gratitude to McG when he made it possible for her to keep a promise to her friend… palpable & heartfelt. You leave this scene with the feeling that the Governor is now in the Five-0’s debt – another foreshadowing of things to come (shades of $10 million dollars, anyone?).

So some great character stuff in there from all the recurring characters, letting us get to know them just a little bit more. This episode also does really really well with our core team, especially balancing the two sides of Kono — the rookie cop with street smarts to spare.

I think wardrobe put her in green for a reason.

Kono expositions her way through “mystery solving” portion of the case asking the basic “but why would anybody…” and “what does that mean…” questions that allow the audience to keep up. But then! Then we get to go undercover. And we are reminded (again, 3rd time in 5 eps) that Kono rocks UC work like nobody’s business.

Kono, you’re awesome but… WHAT. IS. THAT. THING. ON. THE. WALL.

Additionally, Chin Ho’s thoughtful analysis of the facts are also critical to the solving of the case, eventually connecting the dots to a militant group from the Philippines responsible for the murder & kidnapping.

As handsome as he is intelligent, Chin Ho Kelly deserves respect!

And I do respect you Chin Ho Kelly! I do! And I love you for your mind. I swear. Please everyone remember how much I love Chin Ho for his fabulous brain.

Because the Five-0s storm the warehouse to rescue the Ambassador and I’m just going to pretend this screen cap is about that bucket over McG’s right shoulder because I am a Bucket Aficionado.

Eyes on the bucket.

Danno guides McG through the warehouse in what I wish was my favorite scene but is only a distant 2nd. Kono & Chin each are appropriately BAMF as we know they can be.

So finally! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! That Filipino Militant has been pushing his luck & it just ran out. McG appears to be channeling his inner jaguar in this screen cap here.

One Filipino Militant beat down coming up!

So what are we left with? An episode that’s actually pretty good. A quickly moving mystery, lots of time with our favorite supporting cast, some wonderful character moments — and obviously enough raw material for me to write 2000 words about it. Show gives me cheesy bedroom scenes, a trashy nightclub, a girl watching infomercials and drinking out of a blender – and I turn it into Dickinson, Shakespeare, Lord Byron… Ridiculous. This ep gets 6.7/10 from me, and I know I was grading it really hard. It’s probably better than that, but that’s what I’m sticking with.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her his face.
~Lord Byron

New Feature! You rate the episode! On a scale of 1 – 5 with 1 being the worst & 5 being the absolute best…

Thanks for playing!

  1. We don’t get as much of Chin analyzing the crime scenes as we used to, do we? I actually like him (and Kono) better for the expository stuff than McG (or Danny).

    Posted by rainycali | May 24, 2012, 9:56 pm
    • Me too. Season 1 was “Rookie Kono” being taught the ropes by Chin. We don’t really get that anymore since they graduated Kono from her youthful, rookie self to her more tough, edgy self, she doesn’t get “taught” by the guys as much. The exposition is now handled differently, there’s more Danny asking for explicit clarification than there was in season 1, for example.

  2. Random thoughts (I’m taking notes on your reviews now. I’m nothing if not dedicated):

    1. Nice bouffant! Scott must have been first into H&M that day, and by the time Alex got there, all the product was already on the P’Dour.

    2. Your ‘Definition of Beauty’ pic is the fkn definition of beauty all right. I love the bridge of his nose. Is that odd? And just look at that upper lip (I’ve been looking at it for quite a few minutes, myself)! And his cute little elf ears. He SO should have been in Lord of the Rings.

    3. I love the nightclub scene because even though Show occasionally TELLS us that Steve and Danny go for beers after work, I don’t think they ever SHOWED it until the HHV scene, did they? And even then the whole team was there. So even though they are actually working in this scene, it’s the closest we ever got 😦 .

(Also: Saw the RSC’s Much Ado when I was about sixteen. Nearly died laughing. Still one of my favourite plays OF ALL TIME. Just love that you worked it in here)

    4. Um. Isn’t that the shirt he was wearing when they were drinking wine on the beach?

    5. I have something very similar to that on the wall at home. Not really. What in the fk IS that? I’m a bit scared of it. (Also – is Grace Park left-handed or have you been flipping pictures to confuse us again?)

    6. Ooh, I like this picture. Double Kevlar. And forearms. And a bucket. But what on earth is Chin doing with his left hand?

I’m going to have to watch this episode again, and the next one so that I’m ahead of you and ready for the next review! I did love this one, not perfect, but the part that really made it for me was Kono at the end asking the boys to leave in an “excuse me, but this is girl stuff. This piece of filth has betrayed the sisterhood and as I am easily the most kick a*s female around right now, it falls to me to plant a not-at-all-daintily-shod foot firmly in her traitorous posterior. However, the precise manner in which I will do this is a trade secret known only to those of the female persuasion, so kindly wait outside and I will be right with you” kind of way. Kick a*s, but still kind to animals.

This, I like to believe, is also why this scene was not shown because there are, y’know, BOYS in the audience.

Most excellent review, as always! Much genuflecting at your ongoing genius!

    • 2. That just gave me the Best LOL of the day (and it’s only 8:30am here!): Danny’s too short & broad to truly be an elf so he must be Gimli & Legolas’ love child. OMG I literally think I’m dying, my throat is seizing up with laughter!! Please excuse me.

      3. Kenneth Brannagh’s Much Ado movie came out when I was in high school and just… Exploded my life. I always think of Beatrice & Benedick when people ask me “why do you like that Show?”

      4. OMG! This is what I get to paying more attention to the wine bottle & steaks than the persons on screen! Well, it’s close, but I’m gonna vote that it’s a different shirt. Could just be the lighting, making it look darker. The shirt Cath wears is so enormous, pale & wrinkled.

      5. No flipping! At least on my part. Unless Show flipped the film — She’s holding it left handed. Also yes, I had a better screen cap of the “thing” which appears to be a collar with two massive chains attached. I almost captioned that pic “momma don’t let your babies grow up to be sex slaves” but we’re all about NOH8 here at the Junk Drawer, so…

      6. That entire scene Chin Ho has his hand splayed out like that, he’s keeping his fingers off the trigger until he has something to aim at. Funny effect though. Here’s a screen cap from earlier in the sequence. Nice profile of Chin Ho and a MUCH better view of the bucket.

  3. McG’s hair is freaken perfection in those pictures. Truth.

Inner jaguar…..you slay me Stephanie Jane (btw – totes think he’s a panther in bed – but thats another story for another day)…..maybe he was about to practice the fist o death that the bride used at the end of Kill Bill?

  4. I think this episode was when I fell-in-love/became-obsessed with H50 – prior to that, I liked it as a “Hot Men with Guns” sort of thing, but after this I started recording the episodes and watching them over-and-over-and-over. And looking back over the whole season, I think that last scene with the governor is profoundly important – she looked not only emotional and grateful, but CONFLICTED when McG asks her “hey, are you o.k.” (like he asks me every night in my dreams). Here’s what I’d put in the thought-bubble over her head: “I’m torn because you just saved my @ss and I know I’m going to have to f/ck you over royally (and not in a good way) in just a few months to keep my dirty little secret. And why do you have to be so f-ing HOT!”

    • Yes! I think it was Alicia who said that she gives TV shows 5 episodes to prove whether or not they’re worth watching for the long haul and I think these 1st 5 eps pass that test for sure with this ep #5 getting a big stamp of approval that keeps us coming back for more!

Also love what you said about the Governor, I think it’s a very important scene, too!!! Even though no one involved (by which I mean the actors even) knew it at the time. That just makes it all the more amazing to me.

  5. Just re-watched this, thanks for the excuse.
    Great review, StephJ.
I loved all the banter between the boys about Cath. Also loved the ‘triple banana b*tch’ comment.
Chin’s bum in that screencap – shapely!
I loved the way Steve turns away from Kono after she threatens to put the dog down (she’s too badass even for him!) and she still doesn’t get it.
I wish I had a memory, I’ve only just watched it and have forgotten everything I wanted to say..
I remember respecting Show first time round that they didn’t go down the route of Cath thinking Mary Ann was a girlfriend.
Governor #1 was great. Steve’s really surprised and intrigued by her feelings.
Thought Danny was gorgeous in this, kept having to rewind.
Thought the Rufi’d guy rolled his eyes round his head too much.

Posted by Mary Jane | May 25, 2012, 1:52 pm
    • The roofied guy! I actually felt pity for him for about 1 second during my re-watch. I was watching on my computer with my earplugs in and had turned away from the screen for a second — and I got McG’s airhorn full blast right up against my ear drums! But that guy deserved it (and I was able to pull my earbuds out before the 2nd airhorn blast) so all’s good!!

  6. 1. Love the new ‘rate the episode’ feature.
    2. The bar scene is one of my favorites too even though it’s kind of jumpy. I like the banter and what it shows about the Danno/McG relationship. I even like how they interrogate the guy who slips drugs in the girl’s drink at the end of the scene. McG often seems tortured and this was one episode where he seems genuinely happy.
    3. I miss Jean Smart too.

  7. I would normally be tempted to do a random thoughts list – ala my Moonlight watching – but it looks like Alicia has beaten me to it. =P Without rewatching the ep, the one thing that stood out to me amongst all of these screencaps, other than asdfhjklasdfhjkl of McG’s life ruining face is, I really think I like Ms. Borth better with short hair. She’s gorge either way, but the short hair is sooo cute on her. I’m hoping she keeps that look through next season.

    Posted by spurschick | May 25, 2012, 4:08 pm
  8. I always feel like there is something wrong/amiss with this “Bed scene”…. Have been watching it over and over a few times, but then always somehow forget to see what is was wrong with it…..two things I did pick up however 1) Clothes on the floor in Steve’s house (maybe even a SEAL can chill out, given the right circumstances) 2) I think Michelle Borth is our kind off girl – she didn’t miss the opportunity to wrap her thighs tightly around the FOY….just saying.
Just a small correction……you say Max don’t want anybody to tough his “instruments”, but I think he said “equipment”…the only reason I mention it, is in my (naughty) mind there is a slight difference in the two…

That questioning of the parents, is maybe the most irritating bit of dialogue for me…..it’s like they wrote a lot of questions and answers, decided they should give everybody a fair turn at dialogue, distributed it and then the actors played it out like a school play, where everybody knows their lines so well, they are just waiting for their turn to deliver their part……It sometimes happen around the table too.

I must be honest, looking at those wonderful screen caps of the bucket, I keep thinking, why in the world did show ever put McG mainly in Cargo’s?…..my bucket list says I want shots like that of him in jeans, tight fitting jeans like Chin’s. I really feel it would bring out the best in that bucket…just saying on behalf of buckets career.

PS. Every time I’ve watched this episodes it jumps to my attention that when they cut from Cath/Mary conversation to Steve walking into the office….there is this extra spring in his step and then Cath’s “OMG’s” refrain in my head (maybe he walks around hearing Barry White in his mind the whole day, or maybe it’s just my imagination?)

Thanks again for the lovely recap, Steph. I’ve yet to read any of your them, without finding some wonderful new things about an episode – despite having seen it so many times before 😆

    Posted by FOYeur | May 26, 2012, 9:40 am
    • Your observation about the transition from the awkward Mary/Cath conversation to McG practically skipping through the office always gets my attention as well. Not your imagination! to me it is just a furtherance of the theme of the McG/Cath relationship — he runs around playing cops & robbers having dashed off to be heroic — leaving her to deal with the consequences of him getting his way (be that an awkward conversation with his sister, or court martial, or whatever). 😉 I am being rather tongue-in-cheek here because I truly believe that McG would never hurt or endanger Cath intentionally but he does often leave her holding the bag. Thanks for your comments Foyeur, you are always so insightful, I love it!

  9. Whew! Finally getting around to my comments! I love this episode for many reasons…most of which are already stated. But I’ll revisit a few.

    1. Jean Smart – any time she was on screen was a precious moment. Her scenes with McG are extra special. Thinking back, of course I mostly think of the superb exchange in 1.24 but it was nice to be reminded of the time when we didn’t know she was a baddie and one of the early times that we found out McG has a big, soft….heart.
    I too miss Jean Smart..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    2. The bar scene – Loved the banter. Loved Danny’s great detective skills finally kicking in and figuring out the clue to McG’s happiness. Loved the way McG totally brushed him off. lol. But more than anything, and which was really important (to me) for the 2 seasons is that it set the tone for the McG/Cath relationship. At least in McG’s head. Why did he brush off the chicks eyes.xing him at the bar? Because he wasn’t interested! We can debate till the cows come home whether they were BF/GF, BC or just a young couple still figuring out WHAT they are……the ‘fact’ is that McG wasn’t interested in any other women. He may have been a bit selfish, but he didn’t have eyes for anyone but her. ***gosh I hope they don’t FK this up in S3**

I too would have loved to have Mary stick around and watch her parade her own group of guys (losers, I’m sure) through the house and Steve’s reaction to them. Oh the missed opportunities!!

I had other things to say also but now I’ve forgotten. Boo.

  10. I’m so late to the party on this one!!

Full disclosure: Nalowale is my go-to S1 episode. Not my favourite, but definitely the one I just pop in and watch again and again. The McGsexbootcamp action has a lot to do with it, but I think mostly it’s because of how McG acts throughout the episode as a result of the sexytimes. He pretty much clinched my love for him in this ep.
And the fact that I can say HIS FAAAAAACE! during pretty much every scene.
And you all know how I feel about #TeamMcG+Cath4Evah!

    Things of note:
-hey, it’s the first bed that they obviously broke on McGsexbootcamp day #2
    -there’s nose rubbing!
    -there’s backlit eyelash p0rn!
-Cath’s such a smart girl and opts for more sexytimes instead of breakfast

Made of awesome McG/Danno banter #1
    -new haircut/new cargo pants/You don’t think I’m a happy person?/guns and ammo/rambo retrospective
-McG’s smirk smile in reply = *sigh*

Why is it so hot when McG stands around with his hands on hips?

At the victim’s parents’ magical house of beautiful awesomeness:
McG’s hair looks great. Love the bit of grey on the sides *sigh* Did he shower before going to the parents’ house? There’s a ittle bit of scruff… guess he didn’t have time to shave.

Cath says OH GOD!! a lot during McGsexbootcamp. Of course she does.

Made of awesome McG/Danno banter #2
-Did you learn that in SEAL school?/it’s called using the internet/ms pacman/double pretzel level/triple banana bitch/you’re a liar
-also, McG is typing crap on the magic table!

Made of awesome McG/Danno banter #3
-would you focus please/eyehumping you/check for a pulse/ what is that stupid smile/you got into some barry white last night
-McG’s smirk smile in reply = *sigh*

    Things we learn about Mary:
-Agreed with Steph, Mary is a brat
-Mary drinks margaritas from a blender
-Mary wears heeled boots in the house – why?

I wish I looked that good in hotpants. I love hearing McG say hotpants.

McG’s faaaaaace when Kono tells them to give her a minute with the woman and dog
McG’s faaaaaace when Kono says it’s not the dog’s fault

Made of awesome McG/Danno banter #4
-who are you talking to/that’s who you were getting right with last night/stunning detective work/she catches bad guys for you, she sleeps with you, does she cook too/yes she does she’s a great cook
    -#wrinkledeyebrowp0rn!

I love the way McG holds a gun.
I love the crow bar attack and Danny’s reaction!
McG and the roundhouse kicks! Ass-smashing!! Possibly one of McG’s best faaaaaaaces this ep is after he takes down the baddie and then turns around and breathes heavily.

Sunset “dinner” on the beach. Again Cath is a smart girl who chooses sexytimes instead of food.
Since I’m a vegetarian, I’m no steak expert, but isn’t that enough meat for 6 people?

    Posted by heymomo | June 3, 2012, 6:23 pm
    • Wow, that was a lot of words that basically add up to McG is hot. I’m such a fangirl. 😉
As a sidebar, Danny’s hair was really good in this episode too. And his scruffy face was lovely.
And Chin wears tight jeans. mmm…

      Posted by heymomo | June 3, 2012, 6:26 pm
    • That’s enough steak for 8 people. Well, nine, counting you. 😉

This episode DID have a lot of good banter & a lot of picture worthy moments! No wonder I went on and on about it. Kind of scary because I don’t consider this episode one of my favorites!! But it has a lot of those special qualities and good moments that make it a really good example of a quality episode of our Show!!

    • #TeamMcG+Cath4Evah!

      ~Momo, i love your fangirling!!

~Banter #1 and #3, Danno gets the best lines but McG gives the best faaaaces. Full Stop.

~Cath’s a smart girl at beginning and end of epi. Never seemed like she felt used to me. #willingparticipantandsometimesinstigator #iworshipatthetempleofcath

~”Cath says OH GOD!! a lot during McGsexbootcamp. Of course she does.” – Of course she does! (that needed repeating…much like Cath does)

~”Since I’m a vegetarian, I’m no steak expert, but isn’t that enough meat for 6 people?” – i love that they only had steak and wine. No veggies? #theyneverplannedtoeatdinner

  11. Excellent recap Steph! Sorry I’m so late to comment 🙂
I adored the application of your unused liberal arts education to this recap. And your choice of screencaps was perfect! Even though I had to look elsewhere for the sexytimes pics. 🙄
For the record, your FSotE is my 2nd FSotE. I LOVE the bar scene, really, LOVE it, but nothing beats shirtless McG in bed!
    RECAPS MADE OF AWESOME!!

  12. Wait. Just really looked at the screengrab of Cath and the room she just walked out of – which we’re supposed to think is the bedroom. I see an alarm. So the house did have an alarm before the General whathisname episode. I see stuff hanging in the doorway, including hats? I see multiple hats, and tote bags?

    • For sake of show consistency let’s go with “it’s a thermostat!!” Because you need that many buttons to say “turn on the AC” right?

Yeah, hats, looks like Poppa McG’s fishing hats & tote bags because… I don’t know, for the fish? 😆 Because Poppa McG was an old man & old men will not get rid of potentially useful things like tote bags? No matter how many they already have?

      • I understand that you can’t move the alarm, but since this scene was a total drive-by in the house, I’m wondering if the set designers just left things “as-is.” Not sure why you have hats and totes bags in The Bayer Estate, but I suppose they would be useful for someone renting the place. This is me getting waaaaayyy too hung up on details. =/

      • yeah, yeah! Thermostat! #itstotallyanalarmsystem

RE the tote bags, McG strikes me as someone who would be environmentally conscious. Maybe those are what he does this grocery shopping with. Just keeps them handy by the door.

Dear TV gods, please let McG wear one of those dorky hats one day….I BEG YOU!!
Danno’s teasing, McG’s “what?” faaaace, Alex in a goofy hat for the fangirls!!! That’s made of total WIN, ya’ll!!

  13. Don’t know if I maybe missed this in any of the comments – if so sorry for repeating.
Even Chin is not allowed to drive his own car. As far as I can see, they are in Chin’s vehicle when they track Kono on her way to the house where the drugged girls are taken – and guess who is driving?
